About NCC
5/3 COY, 8 KAR BATTALION, SURANACOLLEGE. Est: 2003-2004
- The National Cadet Corps is into existence at the College since academic year 2003-04.
- Ever since inception, the college unit is giving ARMY training to the students.
- The unit has undertaken many social service activities over the years. Our unit has a standing record of sending cadets for the Republic day parade at New Delhi, every year.

OUTBOUND ACTIVITIES
- BASIC LEADERSHIP CAMP
2 SWs attended BLC camp at Mysore the said camp was conducted by 14 KAR NCC unit Mysore group inJune 2017.
- KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS CELEBRATION
20 cadets participated in KARGIL VIJAY DIWAScelebration at Indira Gandhi memorial on 26-Jul-2017.
- COMBINED ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP-1
10 SD cadets participated in the CATC-1 CAMP held at DPS-North from 3-Aug-2017 to 13-Aug-2017
- DENGUE AWARENESS RALLY
NCC unit Conducted “Dengue Awareness Rally” on 06th September 2017. Around 36 attendees including faculties, 4 Bangalore Traffic Police personnel took part in the rally covering 3.5km stretch. The Rally was intended to intensify the awareness about Dengue and its potential threats.
- BLOOD DONATION CAMP
NCC unit in association with NSS unit Conducted “Blood Donation Camp” on 12th September 2017, the medical support was extended by Indian Red Cross Society and also supervised by the latter. Around 135 units of Blood was donated by donors which included faculty members, students, NCC Cadets and also Ex-NCC cadets of Surana College.
- OZONE DAY RALLY
“Ozone Day Rally” was organized on 16th September 2017, in which around 40 attendees took part covering a distance of 4 Km. The rally was flagged off by the Managing Trustee Dr. Archana Surana in presence of Surana College Degree Principal and Mr. Kiran Anandan, caretaker NCC unit
- CLEANLINESS DRIVE
The NCC unit conducted Cleanliness drive on 23th Sep 2017 as per the guidance by the Directorate. Around 40 cadets took part and engaged in cleaning South end Circle Park. Waste collected was segregated into wet and dry waste and same was dumped into nearby garbage
- INTEGRATION CAMP
Cdt. Harsha was detailed to attend the integration camp held at Moodbidri from 14/12/17 to 23/12/17.
- WALKATHON-AMBULANCE PASSAGE CORRIDOR
15 cadets took part in walkathon organized by GIVE WAY ORGANIZATIONon 20/01/18 near South End circle to create awareness about Ambulance passage corridor amongst the public.
- WALKATHON-AGAINST DRUG
The NCC unit along with NSS unit participated in an anti-drug walkathon where in 11 cadets along with faculty coordinators, principal and Administrative officer were present organized by M Square network, the event was conducted in Lalbagh on 25/02/18 from 7:00AM to 9: 00AM. The event also had a Zumba session, 3Km & 5km walk, & cultural program by college students.
- B’ & ‘C’ CERTIFICATE EXAM
6 SDs appeared for B certificate exam on 11thFeb at Garden CityCollege, and on 24th& 25th of Feb 5 SDs & 2 SWs appeared for ‘C’ certificate exam at MSRIT.
IN-HOUSE ACTIVITIES
- INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA
The NCC unit organized the International Day of Yoga Celebration on 21st June, 2017. Around 50 students including NCC cadets took part in the event, the inauguration was done by the degree principal Dr.Sakuntala Samuelson and presided by the PU principal Prof. Chandrashekarappa. The chief guest for the event was Mr.Vinooth M Swho led the Yoga session and motivated the cadets and students to adopt yoga for healthy and harmonious life by distributing the Common Yoga Protocol booklets whilst concluding the event.
- ENROLLMENT OF FRESH CADETS
NCC unit conducted the selections for the training year 2017-18 on July 17th 2017, around 100 students from Peenya and South End campus took part in the selections out of which 47 cadets were selected. The selections were conducted under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, Sub.Major, NCO and other ranks.
- INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
On the occasion of 71st Independence day celebration around 53 Surana College NCC cadets took part in the preparation and final celebration on 15th Aug 2017. Several programmes were held like Parade Commanding, Piloting/Escorting the Guest, Solo Dance, Flag De hoisting and NCC Cadets Ranking Ceremony.
- ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION
The NCC unit conducted an essay writing competition on 26th Aug 2017 as per the guidance by the Directorate. Around 40 cadets took part in the competition and the copies of same were forwarded to the PMO through directorate.
- COLLAGE MAKING COMPETITION
The NCC unit in association with the Equal Opportunity cell of Surana College Conducted a Guest lecture and Collage making competition with the main theme of “COMMUNAL HARMONY “on 29th Aug 2017, in order to promote unity and oneness amongst the youth.The Chief Guest for the Guest was Ms. Amin from BMS College.
- KISAN DIVAS CELEBRATION
On the occasion of National Kisan Divas i.e. on 23/12/17, NCC unit conducted Painting/Sketching competition and also organized a guest lecture on Organic farming for which the resource person was Mr.Parthasaarathinara. The event was organized with the theme ‘UNSUNG HERO OF THE COUNTRY-THE FARMER’in order to celebrate the farmer’s contribution and to promote eco-friendly farming practice.
- REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION
On the occasion of 69th Republic Day celebration around 38 cadets took part in the various activities such as Drill, Cultural performance etc. Also the cadets carried out a plantation drive along with the managing trustee, principals, and various other office bearers of the Surana College.

- CADET OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT
SUO ARBAAZ KHAN was awarded as “OVERALL BEST CADET” by the Commanding Officer.
- COMBINED ANNUAL TRAINING CAMP-2
The NCC unit detailed 7 SDs and 1 SW for attending the CATC-2 Camp, conducted by 8 Kar BN NCC in DPS East from 23rd Sep to 2nd Oct 2017.
- Achievement of the Camp are as follows:
SUO Arbaaz Khan was designated as the “Cadet Camp Captain” by the battalion to lead the camp of 600 attendees
SUO Arbaaz Khan was awarded as “Overall Best cadet” by the Commanding Officer.
CJUO Prajwal won 2nd place in “Parade Commanding”.
CSUO Ranjith was selected to lead the Alpha Coy. and also he was felicitated for the same.
SUO Arbaaz Khan was awarded as the “Best Camp Senior”
Alpha Coy. led by CSUO Ranjith stood as a “Runner Up in Basket Ball” Competition.
Alpha Coy. also won 1st place in Tug of war competition.
Alpha Coy. Secured runner up position in the Volley Ball competition.
- CATC cum TSC 2015 (10 KAR BN NCC)
7 SDs and 5 SWs attended CATC camp at Kolar from 1st June to 10th June 2015, the said camp was conducted by 10 KAR NCC unit.
- International YOGA day 2015
Arbaaz Khan along with 73 cadets coordinated the International Yoga day, and contributed in making the said event a National record
- TSC selections 2015-16
From 1ST July 2015 to 10th July, 3 SDs from Surana Collegeparticipated in the TSC group selection camp in Mallur held by 9KAR BN NCC, where Lt.Harisha.T officiated 8 kar BN NCC contingent.
- CATC TAVEREKERE FROM 10TH JULY TO 19TH JULY-10 SWs and 29 SDs participated in the CATC camp held in VES Model Convent, Magdi road and won the following prizes:
1st place in pick and speak (Spoorthi)
Best parade commander (Adj.CSUOArbaaz Khan)
1ST place in cultural (Patakunita)
Best Cadet Award by GroupCommander.

- NATIONAL GAMES 2015
3 SWs from Surana College NCC unit participated in National Games (volley ball) in Nelmangla from 30/07/15 to 8/08/15, and 2 SWs got selected for the 2nd Round.2SWs participated in the second round of volley ball competition in Dodballapura from 13/08/15 to 19/08/15.
- VOTING AWARENESS RALLY ON 21ST AUGUST 2015
Around 70 cadets actively participated in the said rally to motivate the citizens of Bangalore to vote. And did various field works and survey regarding the BBMP elections 2015.
- Pre-RDC selection cum CATC-6
Conducted by 7KAR BN NCC from21/09/15 to 30/09/15 in Dodballapura.12 cadets of Surana College NCC unit participated in the Pre-RDC selections and among the 3 selected cadets from whole 8 KAR BN NCC Arbaaz Khan was one among them and got qualified for the next level in the following categories :-MDC, NIAP, GD, GC, BC, FA,

- IGC-3 (RDC) CONDUCTED FROM 30/10/15 TO 9/11/15
Arbaaz Khan from 1st B.com performed extremely well and he was selected for the Next camp i.e. IGC-3 (RDC) conducted by 9KAR BN NCC from 30/10/15 to 9/11/15. He was selected under the following categories:MDC, NIAP (singing), NIAP (Dance), NIAP (MC), Ballad Dance, BC, GS, GD
- IGC (RDC) CONDUCTED FROM 09/11/15 TO 18/11/15
Arbaaz Khan was selected as theBest Cadet from around 6000 cadets of Bangalore B Group to represent Bangalore B group in the Inter Group Competition Held at Mysore AlokVihar Palace conducted by 13 KAR BN NCC.
- FINAL INTER GROUP COMPETITION CONDUCTED BY 13 KAR BN NCC IN MYSORE FROM 9/11/15 TO 19/11/15

- TRANSFORMATION FOR THE NATIONAL SEMINAR
25 cadets of Surana College NCC unit participated in the TRANSFORMATION FOR THE NATION SEMINAR conducted at TOWNHALLon 5th November 2015 organized by ‘Queen’s Global Management Solution’

CSUO Arbaaz khan was selected as one of the top 6 cadets from Karnataka and Goa Dte for attending Officer’s Training Academy camp Maharashtra in the month of December 2015
- Trekking in Ajmer 2015
3SW cadets of Surana College NCC unit attended the trekking camp at Ajmer in Rajasthan in the month of December 2015.
- Special National Integration Camp 2015-16
CSUO Arbaaz khan was one among the 15 selected SD cadets to represent Karnataka and Goa Dte in Nagaland (NER) where he won all INDIA BEST MC AWARD.
