About M.Sc Psychology

 

Established in 2003, the Post Graduate Department of Psychology at Surana College (Autonomous) is recognized as one of the top ten destinations in Bangalore for advanced psychological studies. The two-year M.Sc. Psychology program provides a sophisticated blend of theoretical, research, and applied perspectives, evidenced by our record of over 20 University Ranks.

Surana Well-Being Centre

Launched in 2022, this dedicated centre serves as a practical hub for students to master psychotherapy and counselling services, catering to the psychological well-being of the community through a systematic and holistic approach.

The curriculum is meticulously structured to enable students to work across diverse fields, including Clinical Psychology, Child Guidance, and Organizational Psychology. Our graduates are highly sought after, with degrees recognized nationwide for pursuit of M.Phil and PhD programs in premier institutions.

Beyond the core syllabus, we empower students through specialized value-added tracks such as Cognitive Retraining, Psychological Interventions, and Organizational Behaviour for Clinicians, ensuring they possess the analytical skillset to understand the evolving face of human behaviour in modern society.

  • Psychology must be a subject at the UG level.
  • 50% Aggregate marks in all optional subjects (45% for SC/ST Karnataka).
  • 55% Marks in the cognate subject (Psychology) at UG level.

Graduates of the M.Sc Psychology program should be able to achieve the following within 3 to 5 years of graduation:

PEO 1:

Graduates will apply comprehensive psychological theories, concepts, and principles to understand and address human behavior across clinical, counselling, organizational, and community psychology settings.

PEO 2:

Graduates will demonstrate professional competence in psychological assessment, intervention, and training by designing evidence-based treatment plans, psychoeducational programs, and capacity-building initiatives for diverse populations.

PEO 3:

Graduates will engage in ethical, culturally sensitive, and responsible psychological practice, ensuring effective communication, teamwork, confidentiality, and respect for individual and social diversity.

PEO 4:

Graduates will contribute to psychological knowledge and practice through ethical research, data analysis using appropriate statistical tools, and dissemination of well-structured research findings
