Department Overview

The Department of Hindi, established in 1995, has witnessed remarkable academic and structural development over the years. With continuous efforts toward curriculum enrichment and value-based learning, the department strives to move beyond textbook-based education and create opportunities for students to explore the broader world of language, literature, culture, and communication. It is affiliated with five major programmes of the college and remains dedicated to providing a strong academic foundation to students.

The department is supported by highly qualified and experienced faculty members who consistently guide, mentor, and teach students with academic expertise and personal care. To meet the demands of a multilingual society, the department adopts a holistic and activity-based teaching methodology, integrating reading, writing, speaking, translation, media communication, and digital language skills. This approach ensures that learning remains interactive, engaging, and student centric.

Understanding the challenges faced by non-Hindi background students, the department offers special guidance and foundational support through its course Fundamental Hindi. This program helps students understand the structure of the language and improves their skills in interviews, group discussions, presentations, and public speaking, thereby enhancing their overall confidence and employability.

Along with academic focus, the department actively promotes co-curricular and extension activities through its Hindi Club — Ankur Sahityik Sangh. It serves as a platform for experiential learning, creativity, and literary expression, offering initiatives such as student seminars, guest lectures, workshops, and inter-collegiate competitions. The club further functions through dedicated hubs — Journal Hub, Literary Hub, Debate Hub, and Inter-departmental Ventures — and also offers value-added / add-on courses such as Vigyaapan Taknik evam Siddhant (Advertising Techniques & Principles) and the Short-term Translation Course to enhance skill development and practical knowledge.
