About the Department

The Department of English at Surana College (Autonomous) serves as a cornerstone for cultivating the humanities across all academic disciplines. Our dedicated team of passionate academicians, each possessing diverse subject expertise, offers a rich tapestry of viewpoints that actively foster critical thinking among our students.

Academic & Linguistic Excellence

Beyond teaching General English and Literature, our faculty are deeply committed to continuous professional development. Most members have successfully cleared NET/SLET examinations and hold Ph.D. degrees, contributing regularly to curriculum development and reputed research journals.

We actively encourage critical thinking through interactive classes and innovative pedagogical methods, creating an engaging and intellectually stimulating learning environment. Our commitment to holistic development is further underscored by the 'ENGage Club', which works to instill essential human values and linguistic flair in every student.

Whether it is nurturing creative expression through theatre classes or building a strong foundation in communication for non-humanities streams, the department remains a vital pillar of the institution’s academic vision.
