About the Department

The Department of English at Surana College (Autonomous) serves as a cornerstone for cultivating the humanities across all academic disciplines. Our dedicated team of passionate academicians, each possessing diverse subject expertise, offer a rich tapestry of viewpoints that actively foster critical thinking among our students.

We are responsible for teaching General English to students in non-humanities streams, ensuring a strong foundation in language and communication, and we offer comprehensive English Literature programs for our Bachelor of Arts students. Our commitment to academic excellence is reflected in our faculty's qualifications; most of our members have successfully cleared the NET and SLET examinations, and have Ph.D.

Our faculty members are deeply committed to continuous professional development, regularly updating their knowledge and contributing to the academic community by developing curriculum and publishing research articles in various reputed journals.

We actively encourage critical thinking through interactive classes and innovative pedagogical methods, creating an engaging and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
